CHRIS RAY

Chris was born on 23 rd September 1946
In his late teens he went to work for the National Coal Board. He started working in the London HQ
in Central Secretariat.
He joined the table tennis section of the sports and social club, and became a very good player and
won various singles and doubles competitions; he also played for the NCB first team and they won
their division in the Central League.
He moved on to Mining Department where he studied reports of mining projects and summarised
them into reports for senior engineers to act upon.


At Hendon Baptist church he met Christine, and she ran the lifeboys while Chris was captain of the
Boys Brigade and a deacon at the church.
He married Christine and they had Katherine and Jennifer.


In the eighties Mining Department moved to Derby, and the family moved there .


Chris took redundancy from what had become British Coal in the eighties


He became the Methodist Circuit administrator, working out circuit preaching plans, and preaching
himself at various churches, and in particular at two small churches he had oversight of.


About 2010 (?) the with girls having left home, Chris and Christine moved to Eastbourne. Then after
Christine sadly died in 2017, Chris took up writing a number of very good short stories.


His cancer took hold of his body about two years ago, and despite various treatments it very sadly
took his life on 18th June


He was a very kind and talented man who loved his family and the God he served over many years
